A graphic designed in Summer of 2020 in response to a young Omaha man, James Scurlock, being shot and killed by a local business owner during a George Floyd protest. This graphic was made as a pre-order t-shirt for Silo to raise funds we could donate to the Malcolm X Memorial Foundation, who were one of the main leaders guiding our outraged community during those tragedies.

Supporting the Narrative

We wanted to create an image that was broad enough to hold relevance past the incident that inspired it, while also pointing a spotlight directly into our neighborhood that we felt was avoiding responsibility.

Silo Skate Shop is nestled in the Old Market of Omaha, where we were surrounded by National Guard, barricades, and boarded up windows following the global response to the murder of George Floyd.

These graphics were used on social media to promote the pre-order T-shirt.

Staying on Point

Careful not to distract from the message, we decided to keep any Silo branding minimal. We used our season neck tag sewn inside each garment, with the only visible logo being Silo’s “circle S” printed small on the back. The shirt was made to share a message of unity, and we we’re conscious of not confusing the message by making it a billboard for the store.
