Jocko was a music project that existed from 2016-2020. We toured all over the country during that time, releasing multiple cassette tapes, 12” album, and a 7” EP at the end. The music combined heavier 90s influences with modern punk flavor, with the vocalist being a hip hop artist. Due to the nature of the distinct sound, it was important to create visuals that helped nod to the hardcore music scene we existed in, but to stand apart in a more vibrant, interesting way.
The First LP ‘Expression’ Was Released Sept. 2018
Hardcore music has a focus on crowd involvement and high energy, so we wanted to have a visual for our first record that reflected that in a new way. Our multifaceted influence is what made our sound interesting, so we pulled from 70s psychodelia to inspire the abstract look of the clay moshers on the cover, putting the pale figures against a vibrant analog collage to demonstrate the music’s boldness.
Bellow you can see the album art and how it was used for a CD and LP release on Dog Years Records, cassette release on Not Normal Tapes, merchandise for tour, and an ad to promote the cassette.

The Final EP ‘Future Form’ Was Released Oct. 2021
Brainstorming off the title ‘Future Form,” we created a new clay figure that resembled the style of slam dancing that occures at hardcore shows, and a hand-drawn title mixing 90’s hip-hop with 80s NYHC influence. The over-all color palette was more muted vs. the debut LP - but called back to it with a multicolor logo.
Bellow is the layout for the EP jacket, as well as an ad to promote the release.
