Lead Spirit was a passion project started by Wyatt Haertel and myself in 2023. I started on drums, and him on guitar while we wrote a 6 song demo. The original concept was for me to do vocals, so once we finished writing the music, we recruited our friends Joey Claus, Nick Protzman, and Nathan Ma to play in the group.
A Heavy Spirit…
When branding the band I wanted to create a name and a logo that pays homage to where we come from, but also paves a new road to where we’re going. The songs are lyrically charged with pleas of salvation and perseverance, hopefulness, and self reflection.
I wanted to further emphasize the triumph of ‘good’ over ‘evil' - so I chose to include the archangel Michael in the original logo and design. The balance of the collegiate arched fonts with the angel felt more like a team badge, than a band logo.
